I am going to the Beaches Resort in Turks and Caicos and I was wondering if someone can give me details ?
I was wondering if someone can give me details on how it is. I am staying for a week and my mom and dad sister who is 13 cousin who is 12 and boyfriend who is 22 is going. I am 20. I was wondering what there is to do and details on how it is there. Is it fun? Are there tours? How is the food? Details would be good..

- You might start by exploring the following link and look it over. http://www.beaches.com/main/tc/tc-home.cfm Beaches is an all inclusive resort with load of food and you don't need to go anywhere else unless you just must go out, here are a few places: Calico Jack's--a great place for a burger or lighter meal Mango Reef (at Royal West Indies Resort)--delicious food, very fresh seafood and not too pricey, Carib-French Hemmingway's on the Beach (at the Sands Resort)--a mid-priced option which is delicious, great steaks and seafood with an on-the-beach tiki-torch atmosphere The Tiki Hut (near the Turtle Cove Marina)--inexpensive and wonderful! Very relaxed atmosphere, outside and covered. Specialty drinks and each night there's a specialty. (Get there early if it's Wednesday's rib and chicken night...all the locals are there!) Bambooz-- actually a sports bar with a "rotating" menu (you never know what might be on it!) Inside and air conditioned. Great drinks and lighter food. Corner Cafe--near the IGA grocery store on Leeward Highway. Very inexpensive. They have delicious specialty sandwiches, homemade lemonade and hot, fresh bread. All things considered, if you enjoy the beach, snorkelling and Nature you;'ll love it but if you expect fo find great partying, you will not be happy.
- Turks and Caicos is all about the water. If you are into scuba or snorkeling you will really enjoy the sea. There is a very good reef near your hotel that is healthy and you can see many turtles and sea life. Be sure to take a water excursion, the water is beautiful. Even if you don't snorkel you will enjoy. The food is good especially the conch. Prepared hundreds of different ways. The shopping is not that good. You will have a great time, relax and enjoy the sea.) Good Luck
- Beaches has alot of on resort activities. People born and raised on island are much more reserved than staff brought in from other islands. Food is pretty good for an all inclusive. Sneak bartenders and other staff tips if you can, and service will be good, but tips must be on the sly as the employee can get into trouble. Kids will have fun as there are alot of kids at resort and it is kid friendly (they should like ez access to self serve ice cream machine). Beach and water are fantastic. Sand is powder sugar fine and water is quite clear. A short walk down beach is nice coral bed close to shore which is great for snorkeling. Dive shop is first rate (PADI) with very competent staff. If you are certified definitely go on the dives. You will see alot of rays and hopefully some sharks (think i saw 3-4 on my several dives). If not certified consider getting certified there if you have the dough. With certification you get a number of dives and it is not very difficult course (usually done by noon to spend time with family and friends). Water is some of best in caribe because the island is desert-like. Island is small and not alot of nightlife. One night we went to clubmed and disliked it, couldn't get a late night cab and hitchhiked back to resort. On our trip there was usually a pretty lively volleyball game going in the afternoon with dive shop folks and some of staff and guests. The resort provides entertainment at night. Not great but okay. If you drink alcohol, always get doubles to avoid the short pour. Do not know what there is to tour as the island did not seem to have a vibrant history and it is pretty barren. Some folks went fishing and had a good time on their charter. Pool games daily, etc. all in all a good time. Hope this info helps.
- You will be on the beach voted the best in the world last year (I don't know which beach got the vote this year) and it is superlative. It is all inclusive and the food is said to be good. If you want to explore further, I think that it is safest for you to walk up and down the beach itself. If you turn right, you will be heading towards Grace Bay, with its many restaurants and shops, where there will be things to tempt you. It is becoming a more and more interesting development, with new buildings opening almost every month. If you turn left, you will be heading towards Turtle Cove, which is also a lively place with bars, restaurants and the harbour. But you may well choose to stay put, with the best snorkelling on the island close to the resort, bathing in the sea and swimming pools and enjoying the all in hospitality of the resort. Some people do that. If you want to be adventurous, there is a tourist bus which will take you to the various places on the tourist map. http://www.thegecko.tc/ You will be able to join trips exploring the other nearby islands (pick up from resort) or riding (very pricey), but don't expect too much activity. http://www.caicostours.com/ If you pine after some night life (apart from the weekly firework party at Beaches on Fridays at 9pm) your best bet is Bambooz in Salt Mills (Grace Bay), where they have karaoke on Thursday nights. If you like wildlife, there are some good opportunities to see birds such as ospreys, pelicans, herons and many others. You'll have a good time.
- I LOVE IT THERE. BEACHES at Turks & Caicos far exceeded our expectations. I went sailing, kayaking, down water slides, snorkeling as my boyfriend and I scuba dived with the most excellent dive masters, boats and dive sites ever. Our rooms were as nice as any 5 Star Resort. Clean, newly furnished and wonderful air conditioning and all the amenities we could dream of. The restaurants were superb. Food was TOP NOTCH,GREAT, DELICIOUS (the food was good : )); bar drinks were plentiful and high quality. It was the best service in all restaurants which included Italian, French, Japanese to name a few. The "adults only" restaurants were lovely as the kids were entertained at the "KIds camp" at night! All included in the price! If you choose Al inclusive, you get to go on some AMAZING tours. The tours were the best part, well, 2nd best...the Food is 1st. I can't wait to return! Forget Hawaii...there is no comparison.
- It is great there, the hotel is wonderful, the Island is very small thou
