California Beach Resorts Vacations Knowledge Base
California Beach Vacation? We are looking for an inexpensive (as possible) hotel/resort/rental on the beach where our family can vacation for a week this summer. We like a beach where we can swim and hang out. We like funky beach towns. Any suggestions? Really need something relatively cheap (its been a very rough year) : (
What are the best beach resorts? My family and I want to go on a nice vacation to a beach resort for spring break or next summer. We live in California and we have been to Hawaii many times. We want to go to some place a little different. We want to have a place that has a nice pool area and my kids love places that have water slides. Any suggestions? (a city and a hotel/resort)
What are good beach vacation spots for 2 young adults? I am 21 and im going with my boyfriend who is 19. I would love a beach resort style vaca. Wanna go in aug or sept, curious if the ocean will be warm enough to swim that time of year. Also, is their any beach towns in california you would recommend?
Where can we find a private beach for a wedding in Southern California? Or rent a house for the reception? We are looking for a place for our wedding sometime next year and could use some help finding a location. Here are some of our wants/needs and specifics. -We want to get married ON a beach. -Southern California would be ideal but I also love more northern beach towns such as Monterrey and Half Moon Bay(but the weather isn't as warm) -It'll be a small wedding, less that 50 for sure -Our first choice would be to get married on a private or secluded beach, not a public one because we want it to feel more intimate and would rather not have strangers doing god knows what in our wedding pictures. -We do have a flexible budget so private resort beaches are a possibility. And the second part of this question is our other idea... We like the idea of having the reception at a vacation rental house, like one of those great homes with the big rooftop or otherwise balcony with the views of the ocean. And again, it is going to be a small wedding so there won't be that many people. This could also take care of providing our family and/or wedding party with a place to stay. Also, if we found a place like this that was not near a private beach we'd be willing to get married on a public one. We are in Arizona so it is possible for us to go out there and check stuff out and do tours before the wedding but right now I have no clue where to start looking! Any advice would be appreciated.

A Week After Bailout: AIG Execs Take A Vacation? Just six days after sticking taxpayers with an $85 billion bailout, AIG's top executives dropped $500,000 whooping it up at a swanky California beach resort. Among the charges American International Group racked up at last month's week-long retreat: $150,000 for banquets, $10,000 in bar bills, $3,000 on tips, $7,000 in greens fees, $23,000 at the hotel spa and $1,400 at the salon. "They were getting their manicures, their facials, their pedicures and their massages while American people were footing the bill!" barked Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), a senior member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which is probing the ever-growing financial collapse. http://www.nydailynews.com/money/2008/10/07/2008-10-07_aig_big_shots_get_500g_vacations_on_taxp.html AIG hits up Fed for more money Three weeks after an $85 billion bailout, AIG is turning to the New York Fed for additional funding. http://money.cnn.com/2008/10/08/news/companies/aig/index.htm?cnn=yes

HELP with my MYRTLE BEACH vacation, please!? We are in California and we would like to vacation in Myrtle Beach, XC. We have two younger children that are 11 and 13, so we would like the place we stay to be "kid friendly". We know relatively little about Myrtle Beach, so any input will be appreciated. We're looking for either Resort Hotel that has a kitchen or a condo to rent for the week. I want to have this place to be a beach front property. And I want access to a nice pool or pools. If anybody is really familiar with Myrtle Beach accommodations please tell me what some of the best places to stay are. Condo or Hotel (so long as the hotel has a kitchen). Thank you in advance for helping me plan our family vacation. Our family has never gone on a family vacation, so I want this one to be the best; a week they'll always remember.
Honeymoon Destinations within US$3000 during Thanksgiving or Christmas? We live in California. We are not interested in beach resorts. We are looking at places like Egypt, South America, Europe and Central America in that order. We can spend upto US$3000 in all. We can take a 10-day vacation during Thanksgiving (November) or Christmas/New Year (December). We don't eat meat and don't drink alcohol (but for wines). We can speak only English. Do you have a suggestion for some possible honeymoon destinations?

What Resorts are there along the Pacific Coast Highway near the LA area? Hello, My husband and I are trying to plan a Vacation in California the first week of June, 2011. We have stayed in the Desert a couple time and Loved it…we stayed in Palm Desert which is AWESOME! But we were thinking of maybe staying along the Pacific Coast highway near LA, Santa Barbara, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach….somewhere around there…no specific place. We would like to stay at a Resort…not a hotel…we would like to have a kitchen so we can cook…does anyone know of any Resorts along the coast off PCH? It doesn’t have to be necessarily right off the coast…it could be inland a bit, but to where it’s not a far drive to drive along the Coast on PCH. Help would be much appreciated! It’s always nice to hear from people who have stayed at certain places and there experiences. Thanks so much!
spoiled kid looking for an all inclusive beach resort destination? haha.. i'm as far from a spoiled rich kid as you can get. :) yeah.. so i'm going on a vacation in 16 days with my dad and sister before i go off to college. we want to go to a tropical beach (with white sand and crystal clear water). we haven't been on a vacation in years so... we're kinda going all out. i'm specifically looking for a place that has food and activities planned, like jet skis and spas and stuff like that. but if you want, you can just suggest a beach or island, because we really have no idea. WE DON'T WANT TO GO TO: hawaii, mexico, california, st.thomas (we've already been there) so... any ideas? :) thanks!!!<3 EARTH TO IDIOTS: it was a joke. i am soooo far from spoiled that it's rediculous. my dad is a construction worker.. and that is the only income for my family... besides my job of course, which i have had since i was 14.
Great family vacation with things to do (toddlers, less than 5)? Where would you take toddlers on vacation if you DON'T want to just stick them in the Kid's Day Care but you do want a resort, beach, warm weather, attractions, etc.? We were looking at Atlantis in the Bahamas because of the water slides, aquarium, etc. but it is too far away from California. I'm thinking Florida at the furthest, Texas? Hawaii? S. California? Mexico?? Specific resorts please.
Best vacation spots in California? My hubby and I moved to LA a few months ago and are celebrating our one year anniversy soon. We want to take advantage of nice places to vacation here. I love the beach.. Would love to find a resort on the beach or really close to it. I also don't want there to be 400 other people there too. The smaller the better. Charming, quiet, romantic. Any suggestion? What about places I should start looking? I've done my research in Santa Barbara and San Diego, but I've only made a dint. I would love suggestions! Thanks! :)
U.S.A. All-Inclusive? Does anyone know of websites that advertise for all-inclusive hotel and flight to areas of the U.S.A? (ex Florida, California) I would like to plan a vacation to a beach resort in the United States, but I can only find websites for all-inclusive Caribbean and Europe.
Why does my family always exclude me? I am talking about my immediate family too. I have an older sister (25) and a younger sister (17) and have now, for the longest time, been excluded from my family - and it has only gotten worse as I get older. Since about the time I was 14/15 (freshman year of high school) my family started taking family vacations during the weeks I had camp (I participated in dance and theatre so usually 2-3 weeks of summer was mandatory camp). At first I thought that they just couldn't plan a family vacation around my schedule, but after 4 years of family vacation during my camp, I started to suspect something. Then in college it only got worse. I went to school 4 states away because I was offered a dance scholarship, so of course I didn't get to see my family very often, I just couldn't afford to fly home much. My freshman year, my spring break fell the same time my mom (a teacher) and younger sister had off. However, my older sister still had school. Instead of scheduling a family vacation where my sister had to take off, my parents decided to take off an extra week off work and let my younger sister miss a week of school to go on a cruise together - they'd had it planned for a while, and I just so happened to have midterms that week so I couldn't go. Of course I thought I was just making a deal out of nothing, but when I came home for the summer, I expected to finally have time to do something with my family. Wrong... apparently they'd already made plans but had only booked a room at the beach for 4 and they didn't even tell me about it until 1 week before they left... yeah, they could have brought an air mattress or something, but they weren't going to be able to fit me in (their excuse...) So after that summer I just took summer classes and only went home over Christmas break. Fast forward to my graduation from college in 3 years, no debt, Summa Cum Lade and I move back to my original state, only 1 1/2 hours from my parents and get a job teaching. After the first year of work, I decided to work over the summer and make a little extra money and I guess in that year I forgot that family vacations meant "us, not you", so I called up my parents today to chat (I am on spring break and so are my sisters and mom - older sister now coaches at the same school my mom teaches) and I get their voice mail, so I call my mom on her cell. Turns out they are at some resort in California on vacation... however it is much worse this time... they brought my sister's friend and my older sister's boyfriend too - did an invite go out to my boyfriend and me? Nope, I wasn't even aware they'd already left on Wednesday. They knew that my spring break was at the same time, I told them back in August so maybe we could plan something... but I was told my younger sister had something for cheer leading over spring break so they couldn't make it. Frankly I am tired of this bull, and tired of the unfair treatment. I saved up and bought my first car at 21. My older sister and younger sister both had cars bought for them at 16. Both sisters were given credit cards, while I still have my debit card that I've been putting my own money on since I was 18. I am the only sister no longer financially dependent on my parents, yet I get treated like the black sheep. I tried to think back to what might have happened, or what I did - but I just can't see anything that I did that was bad. Yeah, I was a bit nerdy and pretty much spent my time reading or writing when I wasn't at dance/theatre practice or doing homework, but I always thought I treated my parents with respect - I never directly disobeyed them or had any serious fights with them (when I was 16 I did accidentally break a lamp and lied about it) - and honestly I was probably their best behaved child too. I just can't figure out what I did wrong and I can't figure out how to fix it, when I kind of test the waters my parents (especially my mom) will say things like "Oh, we love having you around. You should come home more often. Ooh, let's plan a weekend vacation sometime!) but when I do, people are always "busy that weekend" or "oh, we already have other plans". I don't want to just say "Screw you guys" and just do my own thing, I honestly love my family and would love to know what I've done that is so terrible they exclude me. I want to fix this relationship with my family, but since I don't know what I did wrong I can't figure out how to fix it. So what should I do? Any ideas why they exclude me? *Laude (I am sure there are more typos too... sorry for not proof-reading)

We were looking at Atlantis in the Bahamas because of the water slides, aquarium, etc. but it is too far away from California. I'm thinking Florida at the furthest, Texas? Hawaii? S. California? Where to go for Calif. beach wedding (small) and/or renting house(s) where c/have wedding/reception? we're thinking of a small wedding in California or Florida at the beach where we could rent several vacation properties (for the wedding party and families of bride/groom) and hold the ceremony/reception on the properties??? Or a suggestion for a hotel/resort that would accomodate families and allow a weekend of fun activities before/after the wedding.... hiking/swiming/ gathering in one house/place to cook/hang out, etc?!
Do you feel happy that you just paid for an all inclusive executive vacation? ? AIG executives just spent $440,000 for weekend get away. "Less than a week after the federal government committed $85 billion to bail out AIG, executives of the giant AIG insurance company headed for a week-long retreat at a luxury resort and spa, the St. Regis Resort in Monarch Beach, California." Do you think you will be able to afford a vacation this year, or are you planning a 'stay-cation' at home? http://www.businesssheet.com/2008/10/after-an-exhausting-bailout-aig-execs-needed-a-break- http://www.abcnews.go.com/Blotter/Story?id=5973452&page=1
CHEAP/DECENT CALI BEACH HOTELS? My boyfriend and I desperately need a vacation. I'm 18 & he's 19, and I'm pretty sure California rents hotel rooms to 18+ (correct me if i'm wrong please:) But anyways, I'm hotel-hunting and I can't find anything but fancy resorts and "perfect for kids!" yeah, only $300 a night! I just want something basic and that has beach access (also around clubs & restaurants) I'm saving up for this trip, but i still don't want to spend THAT much for a room I'm barely going to be in! Anyone know of any decent but cheap hotels in CA beach-side? Also, my boyfriend has NEVER seen the coast, so I want to make it memorable (& romantic ^.^) for both of us! First vacation as a couple :D
Would You Like a Week at a Luxurious Spa? If so, you should have gotten a job with AIG. Less than a week after the government announced the $85 million dollar bailout of this vast insurance company, its executives celebrated by flying in their private jet for a week at the exclusive St. Regis Resort in Monaco Beach, California. My question is ....is it time to put an end to these Bailouts of failing businesses? Is it time for strict regulations of businesses and banks? Should these conscienceless executives, who will receive taxpayer's money, be given a vacation in the slammer? By the way, the vacation cost the company more than $440,000 for its executives to enjoy the $1,000 night resort! It was $200,000 for rooms, the rest for meals and enjoyment, including, of course, pedicures, manicures and massages. This information was released by Congress today.
Whats a good vacation to go on? i Have been on 4 cruises to the caribbean to bahamas twice puerto rico california i love the beach but i need a new beach or resort any ideas
Whats a good vacation when going solo? Hi, I might go away for a few days over my spring break and I was thinking of going somewhere alone. I've had a stressful semester and just got out of a long term relationship so I want to relax and rejuvenate myself. I'd like to go somewhere for 2-4 days. I live in California, so I'd somewhat prefer if it was a place in California, so I don't have to spend money on a plane ticket, but I'm still flexible on that. I want somewhere really beautiful, preferrably by the beach where I can relax and I won't be bored by myself. Any spa or resort recommendations? Thanks.
Where's a good vacation spot for a mom and daughter? I am 18 and my mom's neck is injured from a car accident a few years ago, and she can't go to amusement parks anymore. I want to go on a short 2/3 day vacation that is a little more relaxing because our family vacations are always california with the typical amusement parks and las vegas. Is there an affordable resort, possibly near a beach or near a hiking area, has a spa, good food, has a nice place to walk around at night, a view, etc? My mom doesn't play sports either. Places with a package that includes shows perhaps? She loves shows. Maybe shopping or cruising around or activities that consist of "watching" entertainment? What do you suggest?
where would you rather go on vacation? destin florida or long beach California because my family going to destin in 16 days but i wanted to go to long beach but it was 4 against 1 and we have not had a family vacation in 10 years so which one and we are staying at sand destin resort and it costing thousand dollars to stay there for a week
HELP pls help where to go for winter vacation? my family has decided to go to a resort. but it has to be in mexico, in baja california. it has to be 5 star, and sutable for kids. i want it to be walking distance to the beach (light blue water) pls help thx! i also went to cancun with my friend and her parents and it was absoutlely amazing. i love how its seperate from the other villages. so if you have something like that on the other side of the country
Would you rather go to Tahiti/Bora Bora or Dubai? My boyfriend and I are going on vacation for 9 days in September 2007. I want to go to Dubai because there is a gorgeous beach with really blue water, along with an indoor ski resort, city, nightlife, shopping, sand dunes and the latest and greatest architecture! My boyfriend wants to go to a deserted island like Bora Bora where there is BEAUTIFUL, CLEAR water, but I think we would get bored after 3-4 days and I would get island fever! Anyone been on any of these two? If not, have any of these places come to your mind? What would you choose? If none of these appeal to you, where would you go? BTW, my boyfriend is originally from the UK and I am Vietnamese-American (born and raised in Texas). We both reside in Northern California just to give you a background of us. Also, we have never been to either of these places. Thanks for any of your opinions and output in advance!
Can someone translate this into Spanish for me? (No Google translate)? Cabo San Lucas is located on the southernmost tip of Baja California, and is famous for its casual atmosphere and exciting nightlife. With its large marina and beautiful bay, Cabo San Lucas also has great beaches, lots of shopping and restaurants, and a variety of hotels and resorts for any budget. Cabo San Lucas is also known for its famous stone arch, called El Arco, a magnificent natural rock formation at Land’s End. Cabo San Lucas' long sandy main beach, El Medano, is the place for swimming and various watersports. The beach has lots of fun restaurants in the sand, golf, volleyball, and perfect views. A popular port of call for cruise ships along the Mexican Riviera, Cabo San Lucas is also a popular destination for spring break or a long vacation and a hideaway for everyone. Being one of the best vacation spots in Mexico, Cabo San Lucas is the place for you!
ANNIVERSARY VACATION IDEAS? My anniversary is next month. We want to do a cruise or a beautiful island. Something where a clear water beach is involved. Only thing is we have to bring out children. Not too expensive but if its worth the money we will pay. Does anyone know of any places?Any resorts and feed back on places if you have been. Looking for Perfect Romantic Vacation for December Anniversary!!!? I want to plan a great, romantic (and hopefully, but not required cheap) vacation for my one year anniversary to my husband. I would like to surprise him with the trip destination. For our honeymoon, we went to Gatlinburg, Tennessee for about a week. We have also visited Florida, North Carolina, Texas, and California since getting married. We are not opposed to going out of the country as we both will have passports soon. We love all climates, the beach and mountains. We like water rafting, swimming, etc.My husband does not snorkel or dive, but that can be an activity that is available. We have never been on a cruise or to an all-inclusive resort (either together or separate), but are not opposed to those either. Any suggestions on destinations, hotels, activities, etc. would be appreciated! I would like to keep the accommodations, travel expenses, etc. under $4000 (excluding food, activities, and spending money) because we will be traveling close to Christmas time. THANK YOU!!!! I want to go on vacation with my husband and baby that is 10 months old but don't know where to go.? My husband and I love sports and the outdoors. We would love to go to the beach somewhere and stay at a resort for the baby. Maybe chill out and play beach volleyball or something. My birthday is July 2 and we wanted to just get away for a while. We also love to party and dance but realize that is probable not something we can do with a baby. We are just so limited on what we can do. I'd like to go to California but not familiar with it. I need help quick!!!
Can I just get a wood skimboard? I grew up surfing in California....been stuck in Kentucky for many years....I'm on vacation in Jekyll Island Georgia...it's too flat, ugly, and murky to even get some kicks boogie boarding....so I figure last resort, I'll just go get a skimboard...but I really don't want to drop 400 bucks on a "real" one. I haven't skimmed since I was a kid and I won't use this thing again after this trip...is it worth it to even try the "souvenir" type wooden one? I remember nothing but wood ones as a youngster...but they seemed heavier...I dunno, just really frustrated to be at a "beach" and not be able to ride any kind of board!!! thanks in advance ;)
